What do real estate agents do?
Sales agents provide a number of services, both residential and
commercial, for their customers and clients. As an agent, you can list and sell homes or businesses, rent income properties,
or help families relocate to and from other cities. Real estate is not just another job... it’s your business.
How
do I become a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson?
In New York State, a 45-hour Qualifying Course is required before you can obtain your license. This will cost
you approximately $325. In addition, the state charges a $50 fee for the license itself, which must be renewed every two years.
The Qualifying Course also prepares you for the license exam required by the state
Do
I need to have a background in real estate to become licensed?
Most people who get their license for the first time do not have prior real estate experience. The qualifying
course provides you with as much knowledge as you will need to pass the license exam

I need to take a training course and how much will it cost?
In addition to the required state course, all Empire Home Realty agents go through training, for which there
is no charge. This course insures that salespeople are fully prepared to conduct business at the end of the training period.
Also, each office has a full time sales manager and assistant manager to advise and assist new agents.
How long does it take to get started?
Technically, agents may begin working with clients as soon as they
have received their license
Are agents paid a salary?
All Empire Home Realty agents work on commission. The company receives
a set percentage of each sale, which is divided up between the buyer’s agent, seller’s agent, and the respective
companies. Also, agents receive commissions from relocation referrals into or out of the area.
What
is the difference between a broker and a salesperson?
A salesperson works under the sponsorship of a licensed Broker. At Empire Home Realty, the company is the
broker and the salespeople are independent contractors working under its supervision. Empire Home Realty encourages agents
to work for their Associate Broker’s license.
What is an independent contractor,
and what are the advantages?
As an independent contractor, you are not actually an employee of Empire Home Realty.
You are entitled to make your own schedule, and work with as few or as many clients as you wish, depending upon your financial
goals. You are rewarded in direct proportion to your efforts. One of the advantages is that as an agent your time is completely
flexible, allowing you to incorporate home, family, and other commitments into your day.
